Kindy Orientation Day video

We look forward to welcoming new families to Kindergarten in 2024. Please see below our 'Kindy Transition' information poster and Expression of Interest form / online link.

Starting school is an important step in a child’s life. At St Georges Basin Public School, we believe in the importance of strong home/school, teacher/parent partnerships from the very first day of your child’s schooling. For this reason, we organise preschool visits and a Kindergarten transition program, which includes informal playgroup sessions prior to our orientation mornings where parents and children can get to know each other.

The transition program provides opportunities for children starting Kindergarten to settle into a school routine, meet teachers, mix with groups of other children and engage in both structured and unstructured learning activities.

The playgroup sessions and Kindergarten orientation mornings will be held in Term 4. Our Kindergarten Orientation Program includes information sessions for parents and classroom time for children.

Please use this link to complete an Online Enrolment for Kindergarten 2024 at St Georges Basin PS.

Alternatively, please collect a paper enrolment form from our office at 15 Tallyan Point Rd, Basin View  NSW  2540.

After the completion of your enrolment application the school will create an enrolment information package which will be forwarded to parents via siblings, mail & preschools, or can be collected from the school office in August.

This enrolment pack will include all the Information regarding Kindy and provides forms which need to be returned to the office prior to your child’s first Orientation session.

If you know of any families who have a Kindergarten aged child, please pass this form onto them or direct them to our website https://stgeorgesb-p.schools.nsw.gov.au

Best Start dates have changed

Best Start Assessments - January/February 2024

Children enter Kindergarten with different skills and experiences.

The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a tool to help teachers find out each child’s skills, strengths and understanding of literacy and numeracy at the  beginning of Kindergarten.  These are held in our new learning hub and take approximately 40 minutes.

Best Start Assessments will be held on Thursday 1st, Friday 2nd, Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th February 2024 with appointment times between 9:00am through to 1:00pm.  Openings up to 1:40pm may open up if we need more time slots due to added enrolments.

Our school uses a program called School Interviews to book our Best Start sessions. Invitations go out later in the year to families who have enrolled with the school so you can book a time slot for Best Start. If you don’t have access to a computer or the internet, please contact the office for assistance.

Your first day of Big School will be Wednesday 7th February 2024.
